President of the Constitutional Court of BiH, Mirsad Ceman, Vice-Presidents, Mato Tadic and Zlatko Knezevic and Secretary General, Natasa Vukovic, met today with the Chair and Members of the Collegium of both Houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.The meeting was held upon initiative of the Constitutional Court of BiH which was sent to the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which, within the scope of their constitutional jurisdiction and responsibilities, have or may have influence on securing better conditions for work and functioning of the Constitutional Court of BiH. The goal of the meeting and discussion was to find efficient solutions for particular issues as to enable that the constitutional position of the Constitutional Court of BiH as defined by Article VI of the Constitution and the Rules of the Court is fully exercised.
Thus, the parties discussed current issues significant for the operation of the Constitutional Court as well as the need and possibility of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, within its jurisdiction, to become involved and assist the Court in solving these issues.
A particular attention was given to the enforcement of decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH as well as to the issues concerning financial and administrative independence and independence in general of the Constitutional Court of BiH and some other issues concerning the state protocol.
Members of the Collegiums of both Houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH emphasized that the Constitutional Court of BiH is the guardian of the Constitution of BiH and that it should be afforded with a necessary support in carrying out its functions.
Delegation of the Constitutional Court of BiH and members of the Collegium of both Houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH agreed that the resolution of, at least, key issues and problems discussed, will contribute to exercising of constitutionality and the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
