The delegation of the Office of the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms while Countering Terrorism has paid a visit to the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina today within its official visit to the competent authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Ms. Fionnuala Ní Aoláin, the Special Rapporteur led the delegation.
President of the Constitutional Court Valerija Galić, Vice-Presidents of the Constitutional Court Mirsad Ćeman and Zlatko M. Knežević and their associates received the UN delegation for a working visit.
President Galić and Vice-Presidents Ćeman and Knežević presented the facts about the constitutional position, competences, organization and functioning of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The present touched upon the challenges in the work of the Constitutional Court, with special reference to cases concerning the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms, and the application of relevant international instruments in that segment.
The UN delegation expressed its gratitude for the reception, exchange of opinions and information received from President Galić and Vice-Presidents Ćeman and Knežević, and wished the Constitutional Court a successful continuation of its work.
