The delegation of the Constitutional Court led by the Vice-President Valerija Galić welcomed today the judges and representatives of the National School of Judges of Ukraine. The meeting was organised by the Council of Europe with a view to exchanging the knowledge and experience between the two delegations, particularly in relation to judicial approaches to compensations and reparations for damage caused during the war.
Vice-President Galić conveyed her gratitude to the Ukrainian delegation for their interest in the work, experience and case law of the Constitutional Court, as well as her regret that Ukraine has found itself in a difficult situation brought on by war. She expressed readiness of the Constitutional Court with respect to the future cooperation in the area of the judiciary and protection of the rule of law. She stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between the judicial institutions of different countries, especially during the challenging times when facing the consequences of conflicts and the need for effective legal solutions.
Meeting participants agreed that meetings like this contribute to deepening mutual understanding, better exchange of the case law and to advancing joint efforts for the preservation and protection of human rights.
