At the invitation of the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Latvia, Aldis Lavinš, a delegation of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, consisting of Vice-President Mirsad Ćeman and the Head of the Office of President, Ms. Erda Začiragić, took part in the International Conference on the topic “The Role of the Constitutional Courts in Concretising the Shared Values Uniting Europe”. The Conference was held in Riga, Latvia, on 1 March 2024.
The conference was organized to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Latvia becoming a Member State of the European Union, with a view to serving as a forum for discussions and creation of new ideas on issues relating to the constant evolution of constitutional values in a changing world. The conference was organized in two panel sessions: the first “Balancing the constitutional identities of the Member States of the European Union and the Council of Europe with the shared European values” and the second “The European consensus and its impact on the European public order”.
At the Conference, Vice-President Ćeman met with the President and Judges of the Constitutional Court and Supreme Court of the Republic of Latvia, presidents and judges of other European constitutional and supreme courts and prominent legal experts. Vice-President used an opportunity to exchange opinions on the topic of the Conference itself, as well as on other current constitutional and legal issues.
