On 7 December 2023, at the invitation of the Law School of the International University in Sarajevo (IUS), the President of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina Valerija Galić took part in the work of the Conference organised with a view to marking the 75th anniversary of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Human Rights Day. The Conference was held on the premises of the IUS in Sarajevo.
The International Human Rights Day is commemorated on 10 December every year, as an anniversary of the signing of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
President Galić addressed the students and all other participants in the Conference, and introduced them to the work of the Constitutional Court in the area of the fundamental human rights and freedoms protection, as well as with the international standards for the protection thereof. President Galić stated that human rights are not only a concept, they are a call to action. “Take initiative and get involved in the conversations that promote awareness and understanding. Let us imagine together the future in which human rights are not celebrated only on a certain day, but are woven into the fabric of our everyday life. As you embark on your academic journey, you carry with you the responsibility to make a positive impact on the world”, said President Galić.
