A seminar for lawyers of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina was organized within the joint project of the Constitutional Court of BiH and the AIRE Centre. The seminar was aimed at strengthening the capacity of the Constitutional Court of BiH in the protection of constitutional rights within its appellate jurisdiction.
The seminar was held on 10 and 11 March 2022, on Igman, with the support of the Government of the Great Britain. The Vice-President of the Constitutional Court of BiH, Mirsad Ćeman opened the seminar.
It was stressed at the beginning of the seminar that the Constitutional Court of BiH continuously educates its employees, in order to improve the quality of work on the cases and consequently, to achieve a better organization that will ultimately contribute to more efficient and effective resolution of cases and shorten deadlines in decision-making process.
The guest lecturer at the seminar Ms. Nikolina Katić from the Office of the Representative of the Republic of Croatia before the European Court of Human Rights, referred to the case law of national courts in relation to the case law of the European Court of Human Rights concerning the Republic of Croatia.
The lecturers commented on the current topic of the COVID-19 pandemic from the aspect of human rights, the aspect of proportionality when it comes to human rights and freedoms, and the aspect of the ever-current topic of discrimination.
The seminar aimed to improve the practical implementation of the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and to provide support to the judicial system of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
