Lawyers of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in a two-day seminar entitled "Positive Obligations of the State - Effective Investigation under Articles 2, 3 and 8 of the European Convention".
The professional training for lawyers, which was held on 6 and 7 April 2023 on Igman, was organized by the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the support of the AIRE Centre.
Ms. Valerija Galić, President of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina opened the seminar.
The lecturers at the seminar were Ms. Nikolina Katić from the Office of the Agent of the Republic of Croatia before the European Court of Human Rights, Dr Krešimir Kamber from the Office of the Jurisconsult of the European Court of Human Rights and Franjo Dragičević, Senior Legal Advisor in the Office of the Registrar of the Constitutional Court of BiH.
During the two days of the seminar, the lawyers of the Constitutional Court had the opportunity to hear more about the standards of effective investigation, the obligation to investigate police violence under convention law and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights.
Professional training for lawyers of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina was organized within the project "Strengthening the Capacity of the Judiciary to Fight against Organized Crime and Impunity in Bosnia and Herzegovina", which is implemented by the AIRE Centre with the support of the Government of the United Kingdom. One of the priorities of this project is to improve harmonization and transparency of domestic courts’ case law and its harmonization with good practice and with the decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Convention on Human Rights, especially in the field of criminal justice.
