On 16 November 2023, the President of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Valerija Galić, and the Head of the Office of the President, Erda Zaćiragić, attended the ceremony and international conference marking the 60th anniversary of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Serbia in Belgrade.
The President of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina actively participated in the work of the International Conference “The Role of Constitutional Courts in the Application of the European Convention on Human Rights and the Case Law of the European Court of Human Rights”. President Galić gave a presentation on the topic “Dialogue of the Constitutional Courts in the Protection of Human Rights”. In her presentation, President Galić talked about the quality, intensity and manner of cooperation of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina with foreign courts, and within the framework of international organizations of constitutional courts. President Galić stressed that, among other things, the operation, position and valorisation of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the international community and, consequently, the influence of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, depends directly on this. As President Galić emphasized, international and national courts are faced with human rights violations on a large scale. The manner in which the courts will deal with it is of crucial importance. The dialogue between courts is one of these ways.
In addition to the representatives of the constitutional courts from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the presidents and judges of the constitutional courts of Albania, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Estonia, Armenia, Hungary, Moldova, the Federal Republic of Germany, North Macedonia, the Republic of Slovakia, Croatia, Montenegro, as well as representatives of the Council of Europe and judges of the European Court of Human Rights also took part in the work of the International Conference.
