Mr. Mirsad Ćeman, President of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Mr. Zlatko M. Knežević, Vice-President of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the invitation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia and Venice Commission, are attending an International Conference in Yerevan/Armenia on 21 and 22 October 2016.
The Conference is organized by the Constitutional Court of Armenia, European Commission for Democracy through Law of the Council of Europe (Venice Commission), Conference of Constitutional Control Organs of the Countries of New Democracy, Constitutional Law Centre of the Republic of Armenia with the support of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
The subject of the Conference is “the Role and Significance of “Rule of Law Checklist”, adopted at the 106th Plenary Session of the Venice Commission, in the Process of Conducting Constitutional Monitoring”; and “the Role of Constitutional Court in Overcoming Legal Gaps and Legal Uncertainty”.
More than 50 participants of the Conference presented their views on these subjects: presidents, judges, representatives of the organizer of the Conference and presidents judges of a number of European constitutional and other courts.
International cooperation and attendance at international conferences, expert and scientific gatherings is a means by which the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina promotes its doctrine, experience and case-law, notably in the field of rule of law, protection and promotion of importance of the respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. This way the Constitutional Court contributes to the acquis, which is also an inspiration for the Constitutional Court.
President Ćeman and Vice-President Knežević exchanged views with colleagues of other constitutional courts on other current issues concerning the constitutional judiciary in other countries by participating in the work of roundtables of the Conference.
