A delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic Austria has paid an official return visit to the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina on 16 and 17 April 2018.
The President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Austria, Dr. Brigitte Bierlein, the Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Austria (the former Vice-Chancellor and Minister of Justice of Austria), Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Brandstetter, Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Austria (also Judge of the Supreme Administrative Court), Dr. Nikolaus Bachler and the Chief of Protocol of the Constitutional Court of Austria, Dr. Reinhild Huppmann have paid a working visit on behalf of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Austria.
A cooperation between the two courts has been developed for a number of years, and so within the framework of international organizations, European and World Conferences of Constitutional Courts as both courts are the members thereof. A bilateral cooperation was initiated and established in 2017 when the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Austria hosted a delegation of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The President of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mirsad Ćeman, Vise-Presidents of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mato Tadić and Zlatko Knežević and Judge of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Valerija Galić will have professional talks with their colleagues from the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Austria.
Within the framework of the general subject of the professional talks “the Constitutional Court in the Constitutional-Legal System - Experience of Austria and Bosnia and Herzegovina”, the delegations of the two courts will exchange their experiences, views and opinions on a few sub-subjects, more precisely “Role and Jurisdiction of the Constitutional Court”, “Independence and Autonomy” and “Perception and Attitude of Other Public Authorities and Citizens towards Decisions of the Constitutional Court (the issue related to accepting and enforcing the court decisions).
Within the visit, the President of the Constitutional Court of Austria, Prof. Dr. Brigitte Bierlein and the members of the delegations of the Constitutional Court of Austria and the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina will also be received by the President of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
